To simplify the forecasting aspect of this site, I've pulled in the Weather Story forecast graphic from the Grand Rapids National Weather Service. This view is a good overview of what you can expect through the day.

Just in time for Spring and Summer I've installed a new UV sensor on the weather station to measure the UV Index which can help you decide your current sunburn potential through the days and weeks ahead. The sensor's readings can be found in the bottom left hand side of the main page under "Sunshine and Clouds". I hope you enjoy the added information!

I've pulled in some new snowfall related maps from the National Weather Service and Weather Underground. They can be seen by clicking on Maps and Radar in the menu or by clicking here.

Server maintenance completed successfully. New hard drive is operational. System data fully restored.

The weather server may be down occasionally over the next few hours as a hard drive replacement and rebuild is completed.

Most of the redesign has finished. Small tweaks will continue as I have time to add to the site. Of note after this change are the boxes on the summary page that now change color based on the readings displayed in them. Not all boxes change color and light grey is the normal color if there is no activity such as wind or rain. Feedback welcome.

Box Information:

• Temp, Dew, Chill, Heat - will all change color every 10 degrees to indicate whether or not it is colder or warmer.
• Precipitation - if there is no rain, the box will stay grey. It will turn light green if it has rained that day, or dark green if it is currently raining.
• Wind - if there is no wind the box will be grey. It will turn light blue, medium blue and dark blue for every 10 mph of wind increase. Also the Beaufort scale terminology of the wind is listed in this box.

Synopsis:

• This box will attempt to relay the current weather situation happening or events of the day so far. Look for a generalized temperature reading, indication of temperature trend, a description of the winds and a note of precipitation if applicable. This will continue to be tweaked in the weeks and months ahead.
  

The site is currently under a rebuild and data and formatting may come and go or not display properly as changes are being made. Will update when rebuilding is completed over the next few weeks.
